Student Focus - Matt Russell
Being the most heavily-forested state in the nation, I do not know of any other region that values its forests as much as the people of Maine do.
After learning about the science of forests from the Adirondack Mountains of New York State to the pine plantations that comprise the US southeast, I was introduced to Maine through working with the Cooperative Forestry Research Unit. My graduate program with Aaron Weiskittel focuses on building growth and yield models for use throughout the Acadian forest.
When my eyes are away from the computer, I enjoy running and all things outdoors.
