Outreach & Service - Unifying Themes and Forests Partnership

The School of Forest Resources, Maine TREE Foundation – Project Learning Tree, and high schools form a partnership to work on professional development that increases the use of forest resources to facilitate improved teaching to better meet the revised Maine Learning Results and improve student performance in tests and success after graduation.  High schools in the Partnership includes:

  • Edward Little High School (Auburn)
  • Lewiston High School
  • Lisbon High School
  • St. Dominic Regional High School (Auburn)
  • Washington Academy (East Machias)

Funding for the partnership is provided by the Mathematics and Science Partnerships Program by the Maine Department of Education and US DOE.  The funding is used to support workshops based on teacher interests and available expertise.  Funding is also used to pay for substitute teachers, materials and supplies for teacher professional development, stipends, and travel.
