I am a marginal alumni faculty hire in the School of Forest Resources where I teach undergraduate and graduate classes in remote sensing and ecosystem science. Prior to my appointment at the University of Maine, I was a post-doctoral fellow in the Institute of Arctic Biology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and a research scientist in the Climate Change Science Institute at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. I am currently on the NASA Science Teams for the Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI) and Carbon Monitoring System (CMS) programs. I also have a long history of involvement in various collaborative efforts including the interagency North American Carbon Program (NACP), NASA’s Arctic-Boreal Vulnerability Experiment (ABoVE), DOE’s Next Generation Ecosystem Experiment (NGEE-Arctic) and the NSF Permafrost Carbon Network. I am an active member of the American Geophysical Union and the Ecological Society of America, have served NASA DAAC User Working Groups, am a UMaine Faculty Ambassador, and act as associate editor for scientific journals in ecology, forestry, and remote sensing.
