Forest Resources Scholars Program
Full-Tuition Scholarships Available!
The University of Maine’s Forest Resources Scholars Program (FRSP) provides scholarships to the best and brightest applicants to the School of Forest Resources (SFR) undergraduate BS in Forestry program/major.
Full-tuition scholarships are available to incoming and transfer students from across the US who demonstrate academic excellence and commitment to Maine’s forest resources profession. Scholarships are awarded to incoming students based on academic merit, leadership potential, and a demonstrated passion for forest resources.
Recipients are chosen through a competitive application and interview process. Scholarships are renewable annually to all FRSP scholars who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 each semester and participate in SFR and UMaine program activities.

Scholarship Eligibility
- Top 20% of high school class (if avail.)
- Combined SAT score >1100 (optional)
- Demonstrated passion for the outdoors
- Participation in extracurricular activities
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Plan to enroll in Forestry BS Program.
Applications for the FRSP require an essay, transcripts, faculty interview and resume listing extracurricular activities.
Preference is given to candidates who apply to UMaine via Early Action (by Dec. 1).
