Al Clements, class of ’44
Al Clements, class of 1944 (right) with Ted Fettinger (left) on a field trip to Olamon, Maine in 1942 to view this magnificent eastern white pine. Ted was later killed in Normandy in World War II.
Picture is of a Passadumkeag Pine-biggest in the area, 48 inches DBH and 115 feet tall. It was struck by lightning, so was cut down and sawed up. Plank on the wall of the south wing in Nutting Hall is from this tree.
